Hell’s Rebels Session 6 – We’ve got a leak

Present: Dwali Fletcher (Dave), Ista Alkarr (James), Quill Venger (Gaz), Zathras Zathras (Ben)

As the party finish locking up the mercenaries who guarded the Sallix salt works and collected their weapons to return to the Wasp’s Nest they hear a commotion outside and see Dottari are approaching the door. Ista checks the back door and spies a Halfling, almost mistaken for a child, wearing a cloak pin matching Laria’s.

Kaleb helps the party to escape through the sewers where they encounter Tengu bandits. They pay the modest toll, rather than fight unnecessarily, and travel to Longroad’s Coffee House without further incident. Once there they take care not to traipse sewerage into Laria’s store.

At the coffee house we checked in with the party and began to understand how they are feeling in their roles as founders of a rebellion:

  • Dwali misses his father but remains pragmatic, he understands finding his father may take time and in the interim he will continue to do Erastil’s work. Grateful that the prisoners were alive.
  • Ista is concerned that he’s found himself in the company of such reckless and emotional allies, though admits they are extremely competent.
  • Quill is worried where Dwali’s father is. He’s concerned about his own family but confident that the party are currently low-key enough mitigate that concern.
  • Zathras has become caught up in the adventure. He’s all for freedom, against imposition and excited about the adventure. Feels happy to be practicing, rather than just studying, magic. Although there’s some concern that the adventure may get in the way of his studies.

As the party are settling in to the Wasp’s Nest a wall collapses, injuring one of the Tengu sisters. As they investigate they find tools and signs of an obvious sabotage and begin to worry about who could be acting against them.

This leads to a discussion of the goal of the party and the rebellion. Zathras believes the rebellion should aim for full on secession from the Chelaxian empire. Whilst all agree this is an ambitious and lofty goal they settle on a more short-term aim of overthrowing Barzillai Thrune and restoring the prior leadership of Kintargo.

The discussion concludes with a nomination of Quill as the party face and leader. They discuss leaving a calling card so that people can recognise their work, as well as leaving enemies alive to spread their tale.

Finally they decide what to do on the following day, at Rexus’ request they are to investigate the fires from the night of ashes.

Before they rest for the night Quill works with Laria to arrange Pavo helping both of their families out of Kintargo.
