Adventure
Imlit the Pink transports the new party to Tolm and gives them the mission of finding out why people are going missing. She herself heads off to Shadowbrook manor and plans to reconvene with the party in Tolm once she’s completed her investifations there.
As the party travel to Tolm and the Ettin’s Den Sylvester tells them what he knows of Shadowbrook Manor and Tazimack. The Halfling expresses a feeling of responsibility to “resolve what is happening at the manor”… he also tells the party of the magical artefact he carries that seemingly peers into the Gloam.
In the Ettin’s Den the party discuss how to proceed. Having heard Sylvester’s tales of Shadowbrook Manor and a Tomb of the Serpent King his prior travelling companions had planned to visit many of the party members are set on heading to the tomb, but Ethan suggests an alternative idea — trying to hunt the creature they’re hearing of here in Tolm. Deanna agrees, believing that heading to the tomb would leave Tolm defenceless.
Several of the inn’s patrons are queried about the abductions, with one man the spouse of a victim and lamenting the disappearance of his wife, news which is surprising to heroes looking for an abductor of children. The man is convinced to show the party to the location of his wife’s disappearance and their plan to disguise Sylvester as a child and use him for bait is shelved.
As they travel through Tolm Tenoch notices a hooded figure pacing beneath the archway connecting the two churches. The party decide to approach the figure who immediately flees. Ethan pursues him to a building which carries the sign of an undertaker and attempts to gain admittance by knocking on the door, the voice which answers claims that nobody is home and a dog can be heard on the other side of the door.
The rest of the party catch up with Ethan and after some back and forth with the occupant the group decide to give up on talking to someone who clearly doesn’t want to be spoken to, meanwhile Sylvester is scouting the building’s perimeter and notices a shambling corpse inside. The door is quickly knocked down and several of the coffins in the room behind are being opened from within and the bodies clambering to their feet.
Despite the corpses resilience and unwillingness to stay dead the party successfully vanquish the creatures and set about further exploring the building.
Bursting through the door leading out of the coffin room the party see the cloaked figure from the street amongst a workroom. More pressing is the fact he is flanked by large black dogs, each with two snarling heads!
