Our party are:
- Corwin: a curious fellow and agent of old Bes
- Montague: a dashing young fellow with a romantic notion of life at sea
- Ole Yardley: a crazed old sailor who looks and smells like he should be dead
- William (Billy): a man of means with a taste for the sweet life
The party gathered their belongings and were lowered in one of the Man’s Promise’s cutters to begin their trek to the isle. Observing the landscape they realised they could come ashore either South of the Man’s Promise or head round the island and find somewhere on the East shore. Opting to get to land as quickly as possible they came ashore on the island’s North Eastern shore in an abandoned fishing village. Corwin was unable to find any recent tracks and Billy could tell that the buildings hadn’t been maintained for years.
Heading through the abandoned village the party found a path leading to the island’s interior and came upon a collapsed bridge. Wading in up to his waist Yardley could tell the mire would be dangerous and the rest of the party opted to cross by hopping across the pilings.
Two giant frogs were nesting in the mire and attacked the group. Despite a strong opening with the extended Boarding Pike of Repelling Yardley was quickly dropped and at risk of drowning if not for Corwin’s swift action. Montague defeated one of the frogs but was grieviously wounded and almost drowned once the battle was done. Billy’s musket was loud but of mixed efficacy, misfiring once during the brief foray.
Gathering on the opposite bank the party opted to leave Yardley in Hector’s care (whose player was absent this session) and after admonishments from Corwin they greed to continue further along the path to the island’s interior.
Deeper into the swamp the three crew members came across a vibrant tent draped around a tree, with both the tent and the tree covered in lurid painted faces. The stench of rotting flesh and cheap perfurme filled the air and rotting humanoid parts covered in flies decorated the site.
Corwin approached and called out for Sandara and Rosie. The figure who came out of the tent was a pallid creature in revealing attire, their abundantly visible flesh stretched over a starved frame. The creature hungrily charged the party and was quickly joined by two companions.
Corwin identified the ship’s whores as Ghouls and, knowing of their paralysing attacks, warned the party to avoid getting hit by them. Unfortunately Montague was quickly struck and paralyzed. He was unable to move as one of the ghouls began to feast on his still living flesh.
Corwin swiftly succumbed to the onslaught of the three creatures and was also paralysed. Billy, having already misfired, made a brave attempt to take down at least one of the creatures but seemed unable to hit them.
With panic in his eyes and flight on his mind, will Billy forsake his crew mates and save himself?
