Adventure

The party are worried about Slyvestor’s state, he seemed to wander into the open arms of the marauders who now lay dead or dying at the party’s feet.

Tenoch uses the senses of his wolf form to follow Catch’s trail for several hours through the well-worn path Catch trod when he was camping near to the Dark City and using similar trails on daily excursions, unfortunately once he stopped repeating his steps the trail was much harder to follow.

The party opted to rest by the roadside in an attempt to wait for starry skies so that Tenoch could try and navigate with the star map Ethan drew on their first night in the Gloam.

Whilst waiting Slyvestor decides to go hunting and Bran accompanies him to keep him out of trouble. Slyvestor seems to be hallucinating, seeing things that don’t exist and seeing things in forms more comforting to his experience. After leading Slyvestor back to the camp, preventing an attempt to tackle a strange wildebeest, Bran discusses Slyvestor’s madness with Ethan and Tenoch — the three surmise that the Gloam itself is having an adverse effect on the Halfling.

As the sky darkens and the stars become visible Tenoch is able to recognise some familiar constellations and with the aid of Ethan’s sketch is able to set his bearings and determine a route to Gloam Tolm. The party decide to set out and Tenoch wildshapes into a Giant Spider in order to scout ahead from the heights of the stone-grey pines.

Unfortunately at the sight of a giant spider Slyvestor screams and tries to run. Bran tackles him to the ground and begins to restrain him but Slyvestor continues to scream himself hoarse and draws the attention of two creatures creeping through the undergrowth.

Fortunately Bran’s sword warns the party of the imminent danger and they turn to face the capped and booted foes before they leap to attack the party without conversation. The small, angry creatures charge at the party and lash out with great scythes and heavy iron boots. Despite their ferocity and Slyvestor lying on the ground whimpering the creatures are swiftly defeated.

Looking for other attackers Tenoch notices a glimpse of colour through the trees. The party find a dinner plate sized portal to a realm full of colour; over-sized fireflies buzzed over a verdant and vibrant grassland and the sky seemed locked in the faded colours of the setting sun. Ethan recognised the place as the Feywild and began to speculate about the holes between worlds growing worse and affecting worlds other than their own. Opting to remain in the Gloam the party continue on further before finding a place to rest in the undergrowth of the stone-pine trees.

Whilst resting the effects of the Gloam attack their sensibilities further; Deanna is able to shake her Apathy whilst Slyvestor retains his Madness and Ethan gains a sense of Dread, feeling the party will die in this place.
